UK’s Cultural Secretary, Nicky Morgan, in her keynote address to the Royal Television Society Conference at the University of Cambridge urged Ofcom to ‘think big’ in terms of finding what might be needed to ensure that the PSB system can deliver to the audience needs, changing news environment and remains the ‘beating heart’ of UK’s television industry.
The need to find new talent and critical mass investment to drive UK television were amongst the potential thrust areas that she mentioned while talking about the upcoming PSB review.
Acknowledging the commitment of PSB to providing quality content, she richly applauded BBC Planet Earth for its role in reduction of plastic use and BBC’s coverage of Women’s World Cup.
